Overview
In the Philippines and other developing countries, most local government units, cooperatives, small businesses, and even non-profit organizations are encountering the problem of lack of access to sources of fund or capital. They generally lack the capability in generating funding for their projects. Furthermore, they also lack the necessary skills in promoting their products both in the local and international markets. In this regard, the process of generating funds from donations, investments, and borrowings on the one hand, and promoting their products and services, on the other hand, is difficult and costly principally because of smallness in size. The most appropriate solution in addressing these problems is by pooling their resources together or for them to be bonded to increase in scale. For instance, in securing funding, they will put together their collateral assets to generate the fund, and in the marketing of their products, they must pool together their products and services to gain better access to market and even new technologies. This approach of pooling together promotes efficiency for their own corporate development that can be translated into development progress.
